Hi! I'm Emil, aka emilinqa. I am an illustrator, comic artist, and writer currently based in Baltimore, making sequential and story-driven work that combines both my illustration and fine arts practices. My work explores Sci-Fi and speculative fiction genres, featuring themes about humanity, technology, and the body.

I combine traditional and digital processes, emphasizing texture and expression. It is important to me to work in a wide range of methods, as I am always looking for inspiration in unexplored avenues. My work conveys rich narratives through experimentation and visual metaphor, motivated by the long-standing tradition of utilizing genre fiction to speak about social and political issues.

I am currently working on a long-form experimental comic Cosmic Dawn, which I’m using to explore my artistic voice and gain experience working on long-term, iterative projects. I’m interested in continuing to work collaboratively in the professional world and explore new creative projects that involve world-building and storytelling.
